KONA, Hawaii - The No. 18 UC San Diego men's tennis team rallied to take down No. 19 BYU-Hawaii, 5-4 on Friday night in Kona, Hawaii.

The Tritons took just one of three doubles contests and came back to win four of six singles matches.

At No. 1 doubles, Axel Bouillin and Rajeev Herekar teamed up to take down Yevhen Zakharov and Martin Chojnacki, 9-8. Tritons dropped doubles at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots.

With UCSD down 2-1 heading into singles, the Tritons and the Cougars split the first four singles matches.

Horea Porutiu defeated Ibrahim Karmadzhe, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 3 singles and Mark Meyer won at No. 5, 6-3, 6-4. Unfortunately, the Tritons fell at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots to put them down 4-3 in the match.

Freshman Justin Zhang picked up a 6-1, 6-4 win against Taylor De Hoyas at No. 6 singles. Then Herekar came up big for the Tritons by clinching the match with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 victory in the No. 4 spot.

The Tritons will face Hawaii-Hilo tomorrow at 3 p.m.
