CARSON, Calif. - The UC San Diego women's volleyball team had its eight-match win streak snapped Friday as the Tritons were defeated in five sets by Cal State Dominguez Hills at the Torodome. Scores were 25-16, 18-25, 21-25, 25-19 and 17-15 in the marathon contest.
UCSD, which hadn't lost since Oct. 10, fell to 17-10 overall and 13-6 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). The Tritons have locked in the third seed at next week's CCAA Tournament in La Jolla.
With its third-straight victory, CSUDH improved to 10-17 and 8-11.
UC San Diego hit just .161 (61-29-199) for the match, its lowest attack percentage since the Oct. 10 loss to SF State. Cal State Dominguez Hills swung at .207 (70-25-217) and out-blocked the Tritons 13-6. The Toros also held a 6-1 advantage in service aces, but committed 12 service errors.
Four players had at least 10 kills for UCSD including Danielle Dahle (14), Meagan Wright (11), Kameron Cooper (10) and Alyssa McNeely (10). Amanda Colla registered a career- and match-high 30 digs and Heidi Sierks had 51 assists.
For the Toros, Bridget Heins led all players with 18 kills. Morelia Castro had eight blocks, including two solos.
UCSD defeated CSUDH, 3-0, at home back on Sept. 26. The Tritons' eight-match win streak was their longest since the 2013 season.
