LA JOLLA, Calif. - A season-high .318 attack percentage led the UC San Diego women's volleyball team to a 3-0 blanking of California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) foe Cal State East Bay Saturday at RIMAC Arena.
Scores were 25-23, 25-19 and 25-16.
UCSD totaled 50 kills with 15 errors in 110 attacks. CSUEB hit .220 with 36 kills and 12 errors in 109 attempts. The Tritons also held a distinctive edge in digs, 53 to 39.
Freshman Amanda Colla (Carlsbad/San Dieguito Academy) finished with 17 points and 14 kills, both match-highs. She hit .370 with three service aces and 10 digs, completing her seventh double-double of the season.
Caitlin Brenton had 12 kills and seven digs, Danielle Dahle hit .429 with nine kills and no errors and Kameron Cooper totaled five blocks. Heidi Sierks booked 34 assists and 10 digs
For the Pioneers, Amber Hall had a team-best nine kills and 12 points. Micah Hammond had five blocks.
With its second sweep in as many days, UCSD improved to 10-5 overall and 8-3 in the CCAA. Cal State East Bay, which has now lost six consecutive matches, dropped to 5-11 on the season and 2-9 in the conference.
Prior to the match, the seven members of the UCSD Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2014 were introduced and banners were unveiled on the walls of RIMAC Arena. The seven will officially be inducted during a ceremony Sunday morning.
UC San Diego begins the second half of CCAA play on the road, starting at Chico State on Oct. 17 and Cal State Stanislaus on Oct. 18. The following week, the Tritons play at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Oct. 24 and Cal State L.A. on Oct. 25.
