MEN'S CAGERS ON ROAD AFTER BACK-TO-BACK HOME VICTORIES
Sonoma State (1-11/0-8) and San Francisco State (7-4/5-3) furnish the opposition this weekend as Coach Eric Olen's Men's Basketball team takes to the road after playing six in a row at RIMAC Arena…The Tritons, with a modest two-game winning streak in tow after a conference home sweep last weekend, are 7-5 overall, 3-5 in CCAA play and have climbed into a tie for seventh in the conference standings...The top eight earn berths in the CCAA Championship Tournament.

The Triton defense held visiting Cal State East Bay to just two points in the final 5:10 to close out an 80-70 Friday night triumph…Senior guard James McCann had a mammoth stat line with 23 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists…Overall, five players scored in double figures as UCSD hit 47.5% from the floor and was plus-10 on the glass…On Saturday, sophomore Hunter Walker knocked down 9-of-14 shots en route to a season high 25 points as the Tritons cruised past Cal State Monterey Bay, 93-70…McCann chipped in with 22 points and eight assists and fellow senior MacKenzie McCullough posted a double double (15 pts./8 rebounds) before fouling out…As a team, UCSD shot a sterling 51.6% from the field and won the rebounding battle by 10 for the second consecutive night… To get all of your Men's Basketball news, click here.

LAST SECOND WIN SENDS WOMEN'S HOOPS TO NORCAL ON HIGH NOTE
Trying to climb back into the CCAA race, Coach Heidi VanDerveer's Women's Basketball team heads to Northern California where it will tangle with Sonoma State (2-10/1-7) Friday and San Francisco State (8-6/4-4) Saturday…Following a home split last week, the Tritons are in a four-way third place deadlock on the CCAA ladder, sporting an 8-4 overall mark, 5-3 in league play.

Junior point guard Miranda Seto racked up 19 points, four rebounds, five assists and three steals but it was not enough Friday night vs. Cal State East Bay as the Pioneers pulled away in the second half for a 78-58 decision…FG pct. defense was a major issue as the visitors shot 56.6% from the floor…UCSD trailed by just two at the break but East Bay extended its lead to nine in the first five minutes of the second session and the Tritons never got closer than five the rest of the way…The numbers weren't pretty but grit prevailed Saturday night as UCSD came from behind late to eke out a 40-38 win against Cal State Monterey Bay…The Tritons shot a meager 29%, converted just four treys and were out-boarded, 48-36, but got some unlikely heroics down the stretch to come away with the “W”…Down four with 1:10 remaining, junior guard Stephanie Yano, who was 0-4 from behind the arc, pulled UCSD within one when she canned a three with 56 ticks left…After a defensive stop, the Tritons had the ball back and out of a time out with 21 seconds to go, got the rock to Dana Webster at the elbow and the 6-1 soph wheeled to the hoop for a lay-in plus one to provide the final margin…It was her only field goal of the night…Seto's nine points was high for UCSD…Click here to catch up on all Women's Basketball news.
