LA JOLLA, Calif. - No. 16 UC San Diego dropped its second match of the season Saturday, losing to No. 21 Hawai'i Pacific, 5-4, at the Northview Tennis Courts.

The loss snapped the Tritons' eight-match win streak and their record now stands at 11-2.

UCSD defeated HPU in one doubles contest as Jason Wall and Kona Luu beat Georgi Yordanov and Adriano Locorotondo, 8-6, at No. 2. At No. 1., Austin West and Devon Sousa fell to HPU's Petr Michnev and Patric Guenther, 8-4.

On the singles side, the Tritons won three of six contests, capturing wins at the No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 positions. Each Triton defeat ended after a close, three-set battle.

West conquered his opponent at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-3, in one of the day's few two-set matches. At No. 6, Luu defeated Ji Hoon Heo, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, rending him a perfect 10-0 in singles this season.

Max Jiganti also improved his overall singles record, downing his opponent, 6-2, 6-1, at the No. 4 spot. Jiganti is now 12-1 overall in singles, and a perfect 10-0 at No. 4.

The Tritons will continue their home streak Mar. 14 as they face Connecticut at 1 p.m.
