WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UC San Diego goalkeeper Jesse Brennan
received the Wilson/California Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Soccer
Player of the Week honor for the week of Sept. 20-26, conference officials
announced Tuesday.
The redshirt freshman from Los Angeles recorded two road shutouts last week as
the Tritons blanked Cal State Monterey Bay Friday, 1-0, and then topped San
Francisco State Sunday, 2-0.
Although Brennan needed just one save Friday to keep CSUMB scoreless, he faced
plenty of pressure on Sunday against SFSU. The Gators outshot UCSD 15-9 but
Brennan collected a career-high six stops en route to his third shutout of
2010. So far this season, he has totaled 25 saves.
Before Brennan earned the award Tuesday, the last Tritons' men's soccer player
to receive the weekly honor was Jared Kukura for the week of Sept. 22-28, 2008.
Brennan, Kukura and the Tritons will host 16th-ranked Cal State San Bernardino
on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
