LA JOLLA, Calif. - The 3rd-ranked UC San Diego baseball team had a season-high 24 hits in a 19-5 win over No. 18 Western Oregon on Monday afternoon at Triton Ballpark. UCSD batted around in both the third and fourth innings, including sending 14 batters to the plate in a nine-run fourth frame. Each UCSD starter had at least two hits, and the starting lineup finished 22-for-38 (.579).

Aaron Bauman and
Michael Benton all homered for UCSD. With the win, the Tritons improve to 5-1, while the Wolves drop to 0-4.
Gregorich led the UCSD attack going 3-for-3 with five RBI, a double and homerun. Vance Albitz, Evan Kehoe and Matt Hubbard had three hits each while Robert Sedin, Bauman, Kyle Saul and Danny Susdorf had two hits each.
Kirby St. John earned the win to even his record at 1-1. St. John pitched 5.0 innings, allowed five runs, walked one and struck out six.
Sean Greer, Taylor Austin, Richard Kilbury, Austin Hill and Nick Hudson pitched the final four innings of shutout baseball, allowing just two hits.
In the UCSD half of the first, Bauman hit a solo homerun to right field with two outs to give UCSD the 1-0 lead.
In the UCSD third, Gregorich and Saul had RBI before Benton hit his three-run homerun to right field and UCSD had a 6-0 lead.
In the Triton fourth inning, Kehoe, Saul, Hubbard, Susdorf, Albitz with two, Sedin and Gregorich a two-run homerun accounted for nine RBI in the inning. The Tritons sent nine consecutive batters to the plate without even recording an out to begin the inning.
Western Oregon had three homeruns in a five-run fifth inning to make the score 15-5 UCSD.
UCSD added four more runs in the game before all was said and done.
UCSD is back in action on Friday when it hosts a doubleheader against Grand Canyon. First pitch of the first game is slated for 11:00 a.m. at Triton Ballpark.
