No. 12 UCSD Falls at No. 3 UCLA, 12-4

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The No. 12 UC San Diego men's water polo team fell to No. 3 UCLA, 12-4, in a non-conference game at Spieker Aquatics Center on Saturday afternoon. The Tritons (10-10) scored three times in the opening quarter, but could not find the net in the second half.

Ryan Allred, Jakub Bednarek, and Graham Saber each scored within the first seven minutes of the match, as the Tritons forced a 3-3 tie with the Bruins. UCLA's (13-3) Ben Hohl would break the tie with 47 seconds left and the Bruins would add two more before the end of the opening quarter to take a 6-3 advantage.

Bryce Madsen would provide the final UCSD goal of the match, bringing the UCSD deficit to four, 8-4, at the half. UCLA freshman goalkeeper James Hartshorne would net six saves in the cage while keeping UCSD scoreless through the second stanza. UCSD net-minder David Morton registered seven stops on the afternoon.

UCSD returns to action against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps this Tuesday, Nov. 2, at 6:00 p.m. in Canyonview Pool. The Stags are ranked No. 4 in Division III.
