ORANGE, Calif. ? The UC San Diego women's water polo team had nine different Tritons score in a 20-8 win over Chapman on Friday afternoon in Orange. The Tritons scored five goals in each quarter and took control from the start. Sydney Gstettenbauer poured in a season-high seven goals while Stephanie Heinrich and Audra Bloom scored three apiece. Kelsey Schultz scored twice while Kirsten Bates, Nadine Shnayerdman, Janice Aguilar, Jessica Tran and Hanalei Crowell also scored. With the win, UCSD improves to 10-18 on the season.
The Tritons took a 5-1 lead after the first quarter as Bloom scored two goals in the quarter. UCSD led 10-3 at halftime and 15-4 after the third period. Gstettenbauer scored one goal in the first, three in the second and three more in the third. In the fourth quarter, Schultz poured in two goals while Bates, Bloom and Aguilar also scored in the final quarter.
UCSD is back in action on Saturday when it takes on No. 7 San Diego State in the annual Harper Cup. First sprint is set for 12:00 p.m. on the Aztec campus.
