CLAREMONT, Calif. - The 11th-ranked UC San Diego men's water polo team defeated two Western Water Polo Association opponents on Saturday afternoon in Claremont. The Tritons began the day with an 11-8 win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. UCSD jumped out to a 7-2 lead at halftime in the win. In the second game of the day, the Tritons defeated Pomona-Pitzer by a 10-6 score. In the two games combined, Bryce Madsen scored four goals while Sean Roberts and Ryan Allred scored a combined three goals. With the wins, UCSD evens its record at 11-11.

In the 11-8 win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, the Tritons led 4-1 after the first quarter and 7-2 at halftime. UCSD scored three more times in the third to take a 10-4 lead entering the final period. CMS outscored the Tritons 4-1 in the final period for the final 11-8 score.

Steven Donohoe scored three times for UCSD while Peter Gresham and Bryce Madsen scored two goals each. Dan Biag, Ryan Allred, Sean Roberts and Jakub Bednarek also scored for the Tritons.

It was the first meeting between the two squads since the 2008 Western Water Polo Association Quarterfinals. UCSD won that game by a 24-8 score.

In the 10-6 win over Pomona Pitzer, the Tritons had three multiple goal scorers. Madsen, Allred and Roberts scored two goals apiece. David Morton made 12 blocks in goal.

UCSD is back in action next week when it travels to Southern California for two tough match-ups. On Friday, October 30, UCSD faces Long Beach State at 7:00 p.m. on the 49er campus. The next day, the Tritons face WWPA rival Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles at 12:00 p.m.

Earlier this season, the Tritons lost to LBSU at the NorCal Tournament and have lost to LMU three times this season.

UCSD's next home game is a Senior Day game against Santa Clara on November 7.
