LA JOLLA, Calif.  ? The 10th-ranked UC San Diego men's water polo team jumped out to an early 5-1 lead against No. 7 Loyola Marymount but a Lions goal with :07 left, gave LMU the 12-11 victory on Thursday night.  The 1,672 fans packed into Canyonview Pool saw the Tritons lead through most of the night.  After LMU took an 11-9 lead in the fourth quarter, Steven Donohoe scored his fourth and fifth goals of the game, the final with :23 seconds left, tying the game at 11-11.  LMU's Tim Hummel would score the game-winner with :07 left and the Tritons were unable to get a shot off before the final buzzer.

With the loss, the Tritons drop to 10-3, while the Lions improve to 6-5.

After LMU scored the opening goal of the game on its first possession, the Tritons responded in a big way, going on a 5-0 run.  Jeff Hunt scored twice while Daniel Garcia and Donohoe scored to round out the first quarter with UCSD up 4-1.

The lead would become 5-1 as Garcia scored with 7:20 left in the second quarter.  The Lions responded with three consecutive scores at 1:37, 1:05 and :18 to pull within 5-4 at halftime.

A.J. Kotanjian scored back-to-back goals for the Tritons to open a 7-4 advantage.  LMU's Asajavicius scored his second and third goals of the game to pull LMU within 7-6.  Forai's goal tied the game at 7-7 with 2:14 remaining in the third.  Donohoe scored with :48 remaining, giving UCSD the 8-7 lead, heading into the final frame.
