MONTGOMERY, Ala. ? The UC San Diego men's tennis team faced the host of the Blue/Gray Jamboree and nationally ranked No. 1 in the NAIA, Auburn University ? Montgomery, Senators this morning. The Tritons played courageously after traveling the farthest out of all competing teams but could not pull out the victory as AUM won 8-1. The Tritons record falls to 8-5 while the Senators improve to 16-0.
UCSD garnered its sole win in the No. 2 doubles match as Bijan Moallemi and Erik Elliott defeated Timothy Mudrick and Fransisco Javier Redondo by a score of 8-4.
In other action, Kazumi Negishi played strong in a 6-1, 7-5 loss to Mudrick and Vincent Nguyen continued his solid play providing the Tritons with their closest singles result, a 7-6, 6-4 loss to Thomas Ptacek.
The Blue/Gray Jamboree kicks off tomorrow for the Triton men as they take on the Division II team from Valdosta State University which enters the tournament ranked No. 2 in the nation. The match begins at 6:00 A.M. Pacific Time.
