Seven Different Triton Players Score in 10-7 Defeat of Cal State San Bernardino

LA JOLLA, Calif. ? After being down 2-0 early in the first quarter and 5-4 at halftime, the No. 16 UC San Diego women's water polo rallied back in the second half to secure a 10-7 victory Saturday over Cal State San Bernardino.

Defensively the Tritons shut out the CSUSB attack in the third quarter and scored three goals of their own to take a 7-5 lead. Seven different UCSD players scored in the game and junior Sydney Gstettenbauer led the team with three goals. Two of Gstettenbauer's goals came in the second half of play as the Tritons outscored the Coyotes 6-2 during that span.

The largest lead for UCSD, 10-5, came midway through the fourth quarter. CSUSB followed with two scores but it proved to be too late to pull within striking distance.

The Tritons improve to 4-7 while the Coyotes drop to 3-2. The next series of games for UCSD will come as a participant in the UC Irvine Invitational on Feb. 23 and Feb. 24.
