SAN DIEGO, Calif. ? The 14th-ranked UC San Diego women's water polo team fell behind early to 7th-ranked San Diego State and lost the Harper Cup game by a score of 10-8 on Saturday afternoon on the Aztec campus.  UCSD was paced by Sarah Bajorek with four goals and the Tritons outscored SDSU 6-3 in the second half.  UCSD got off to a slow start as the Aztecs scored the first four goals of the game.  Natalie Hockett scored a goal and drew three ejections.  She also set the single-season record for penalties drawn with her 13th of the season.  That breaks the mark of 12 set by Julie Swail in the 1995 season.  The Tritons drop to 13-12 on the season.  UCSD is back in action at the Loyola Marymount Invitational on April 13-14.  UCSD takes on WWPA opponents Cal State Bakersfield and UC Santa Cruz on the first day of the LMU invite.

SDSU jumped out to a 4-0 lead, early in the second quarter.  The Tritons cut the deficit down to 4-2, but SDSU struck quickly before halftime, netting three more goals to lead 7-2 at the break.

UCSD got rolling in the third period, outscoring SDSU 4-2 and the SDSU lead was 9-6 through three.

In the fourth, SDSU scored its 10th goal, before UCSD responded with two more scores to come within 10-8.  UCSD missed an opportunity with 55 seconds left, missing a close shot to potentially come within a goal.
