No. 15 UCSD Edged by No. 9 UC Davis in Overtime in the WWPA Semifinals

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. ? The 15th-ranked UC San Diego women's water polo team came within a minute of upsetting No. 9 UC Davis in the Western Water Polo Association Tournament semifinals on Saturday in Santa Cruz.  UCSD was leading 6-5 in the fourth, when UCD scored with :42 remaining.  The Aggies got a goal in the first overtime period and it proved to be enough to hold off the Tritons, as the Aggies won 7-6 in OT.  The loss drops the Tritons to 18-14 overall on the season.  Sarah Bajorek and Natalie Hockett had two goals apiece to lead UCSD.  The Tritons will play Santa Clara in the third-place game at 1:45 p.m. on Sunday.

UCSD's Bajorek scored to break a 5-5 tie with 7:36 remaining in the fourth quarter.  Goalie Kim Hockett then kept the Aggies scoreless for nearly the next seven minutes.  She finished with a tournament-high 17 saves, including seven in the fourth quarter.
