WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - The California Collegiate Athletic Association honored 297 student-athletes as recipients of the CCAA All-Academic Award for 2005-06.  To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be a varsity letterwinner who competed in one of 13 CCAA-sponsored sports during the 2005-06 academic year.  Student-athletes must also have a grade point average of 3.40 or higher in a minimum of 24 semester or 36 quarter units completed at the certifying institution.  UC San Diego led all schools with 66 award winners, including the 2005-06 Scholar Athlete of the Year, Matt Davey. 

UCSD's men's and women's track and field teams had a school-high 26 student-athletes honored, followed by the men's and women's soccer teams with 12 honorees.  Other UCSD teams included the men's and women's cross country teams with 11, men's and women's basketball with six, softball with five, golf with three, along with women's tennis, women's volleyball and baseball with one apiece.
