No. 13 UCSD Trounces Siena, 18-3

LA JOLLA, Calif. -The 13th-ranked UC San Diego women's water polo team had an easy time against Siena, defeating the Saints 18-3 on Wednesday night at Canyonview Pool.  Judy Emaus scored six goals, five of which came in the first half.  Michelle Perkins scored four times, while Kirsten Frazer added three goals.  Nicole Afflerback added two scores while Natalie Hockett, Miho Umezawa and Nicole Hermann added scores.  The Tritons led 6-1 after the first quarter and never looked back, taking an 11-1 lead at the intermission.  UCSD improves to 11-8 while the Saints drop to 2-9.

 

In the first quarter, Michelle Perkins scored three times and Judy Emaus scored twice.  Frazer also scored as the Tritons led 6-1 after one.

 

Emaus added three goals in the second quarter and Perkins added her fourth goal of the game in the second quarter.  Hockett also scored her goal in the second quarter as UCSD led 11-1 at halftime.

 

Frazer scored her second and third goals of the game in the third quarter and Hermann also scored for UCSD as the Tritons led 14-2 through three.

 

Siena's Lauren Biehle scored the first goal of the fourth as the Tritons led 14-3.  Emaus (4:05), Umezawa (2:23) and Afflerback (:13) rounded out the scoring 18-3 UCSD.

 

UCSD is back in action against WWPA opponent Colorado State tomorrow night at 6:00 p.m. in Canyonview Pool.
