SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The 13th-ranked UC San Diego women's volleyball team won its third match of the Cal State San Bernardino tournament with a convincing 30-12, 30-16, 30-20 sweep of Northwest Nazarene on Saturday night in San Bernardino. With the win, the Tritons are 7-1, while NNU drops to 2-6. UCSD used strong serving (14 aces) to set up their offense as they hit a blistering .394 for the match. NNU was limited to .098.

Brianna Koche led all players with 16 kills and a .560 attack percentage. Rebecca Bailey had an all-around game with eight kills, three aces, three digs and two blocks. Kimberly Carpenter put down seven kills and hit .429 in two games. Setters Kim Adams and Kristin Halvorsen split duties with a combined 38 assists.

UCSD started the match quickly by scoring 11 of the first 13 points to cruise to the game one victory. The Tritons finished game one strong with two Carpenter kills, an Adams kill and an ace by Laura Watkins to take game one 30-12. UCSD hit a blistering .542 in the game.

The Tritons continued to dominate game two as NNU earned consecutive points on only two occasions. An NNU attack error sealed game two for UCSD 30-16.

In game three, UCSD hit .409 and would take the match with the 30-20 win. With the victory, UCSD won three of its four matches in the tournament.

UCSD is back in action when it hosts Grand Canyon on Thursday, September 8 in RIMAC Arena. First serve is set for 7:00 pm.
