SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The UC San Diego women's volleyball team dropped its first match of the season to Hawai'i Pacific 20-30, 18-30, 26-30 on Friday night at the Cal State San Bernardino Tournament. The loss drops the Tritons to 5-1 while Hawai'i Pacific improves to 8-0.
Brianna Koche paced the Tritons with 13 kills and a .435 hitting percentage. UCSD was outdug 49-30 as HPU controlled the first two games.

Nicole Courtney added eight kills apiece. HPU was led by Barbara Martin with a match-high 14 kills and one attack error.
In games one and two, HPU was difficult to stop as they hit .484 and .688, respectively, totalling 40 kills and only three errors. The Tritons had trouble blocking the bigger HPU squad, registering its first block in the third game. UCSD led in the third game, 10-8, before HPU went on a small run to extend the lead to 19-13. UCSD would get as close as 26-25, but HPU would close out the match and remain unbeaten.
UCSD is back in action on Saturday when it takes on Northwood at 10 am on the Cal State San Bernardino campus
