Down two games to none, UCSD trailed early in game three at 12-9 and later 25-21 after a Calvalcanti kill.  The Tritons stormed back to tie the game at 27-27 on a Halvorsen and Bailey block assist.  After Cal State L.A.'s Calvalcanti put the Golden Eagles up 28-27, UCSD's Bailey tied the game with a kill of her own.  Amber Ries then sent down a kill to force game point and the Tritons would win 30-28 after a Cal State L.A. attack error.

In game four, the Tritons jumped out to an early 10-5 lead and saw it shrink to 12-10.  The Tritons went on a small run to lead 17-12 and the Tritons would not led CSULA get closer than three points, the last time at 21-18 and 29-26.  Ries then sent down a kill to force game five, 30-26.

The fifth game started with CSULA scoring three consecutive points, but the Tritons got right back into it on kills by Natalie Facchini and two by Carpenter to take the lead 4-3.  At that point, the Golden Eagles put together a string of points to lead 8-4 when the teams changed sides.  The Tritons would close to within 9-7, but Cal State L.A. closed out the match by scoring six of the last seven points.  CSULA had two kills in the final game and hit .083.  Unfortunately for UCSD, the Tritons committed 10 attack errors and hit -.143.  Game five went to CSULA 15-8.
