Randy Franke has been associated with UC San Diego water polo for 40 years. The 2025 season will be the sixth of his second stint as assistant coach with the Triton women's program.
Franke previously spent nine seasons as an assistant coach under former Triton teammate Larry Sanders from 2000-2008.
Nicknamed "The Franchise," Franke had an outstanding playing career at UC San Diego from 1984-1988.
In 1987, Franke was named the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Player of the Year. As a senior in 1988, he earned All-America Honorable Mention and WWPA Co-Player of the Year accolades.
A goalie, Franke made 776 saves over his career and ranks sixth all-time in program history.
