Biography
AS A JUNIOR IN 2007-08: Earned All-Conference and All-American honors during the season... part of 800 free relay team’s first-place finish of 7:34.57 and 400 free relay team’s first-place finish of 3:28.28 at the PCSC Championships... scored for the Tritons at the NCAA Championships with a 12th place finish and time of 5:07.28 in the 500 free, while also setting a UCSD season-best in the event with a preliminary time of 5:06.48... also set UCSD season-best in the 200 IM with a time of 2:08.92 and a personal season-best in the 100 free with a time of 52.87 at the NCAA Championships... helped the 200 free relay team to a second-place finishing time of 1:34.66, was part of the 400 medley relay team’s second-place finish and new school record time of 3:48.13, and swam as part of the 400 free relay team’s fourth-place finish and time of 3:28.20 at the NCAA Championships.
AS A SOPHOMORE IN 2006-07: Earned All-American honors in three events at the NCAA Championships... at Nationals, Simonds recoreded a 10th-place finish in the 200 IM in 2:07.38... anchored the 800 free relay team to a third-place finish and helped the 400 free relay team to a second-place national finish with a time of 3:28.31.
AS A FRESHMAN IN 2005-06: Earned All-American honors as a finalist in the 200 IM, broke Sophie Levy’s school record in the 200 free (1:52.34) and won three consolation races... Simonds had season best times of 24.70 in the 50 free, 52.02 in the 100 free, 4:59.71 in the 500 free, 1:07.43 in the 100 breast, 2:28.43 in the 200 breast and was part of the 800 free relay team which set a school record of 7:32.77 at the NCAA Championships.
HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Archbishop Mitty HS where the swimming team was three-time CIF champions and was a part of the 2004 National Champion relay team... statistical bests include a 23.8 in the 50 free... member of West Coast Aquatics (2000-05), Junior Nationals and the Sectional Championships... also a Senior National Qualifier.
PERSONAL: Born September 9, 1987... parents are Michael and Marilyn Simonds... has two siblings named Kristen and Aaron... father graduated from UC Berkeley while her mother graduated from Oregon... father played water polo at Cal... a Communications major in Sixth College... enjoys music in her spare time.
