AS A JUNIOR IN 2006-07: Szmidt helped the UCSD 200 medley relay team to a fourth-place finish with a time of 1:45.68... she also helped the Tritons capture the PCSC title, finishing just out of the top-10 in the fly events.

BEFORE UCSD: Attended Santa Rosa JC where she was a member of the swimming and water polo team... water polo team finished third in state, while swimming team placed first in state... an All-American in both swimming and water polo... also an Academic All-American for Santa Rosa water polo.

HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Vintage HS where her top times came in the 200 IM and 100 breast... team earned the league championship and was a section qualifier.

PERSONAL: Born February 12, 1985... parents are Julian Szmidt and Judy Cogan... father is a UC Davis graduate, while mother graduated from Sonoma State... has two siblings named Alex and Leszek... hobbies include wakeboarding and camping... a Chemistry major in Muir College.
