Nick Korth, a two-time national champion and 18-time All-American for the University of California San Diego men's swimming and diving program from 2010-14, returned to his alma mater as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2015-16 season.
Korth was a four-time UCSD Athlete of the Year, and still holds school records in both the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke events. He also served as the breaststroke leg of both current medley relay standards. The Santa Clarita product won NCAA Division II crowns in the 200 breast in 2011 and 2014, both in then-record times for Division II.
A student at Revelle College while at UC San Diego, Korth earned his degree in economics in 2014, with a minor in business finance. He works at La Jolla's Bank of Internet USA, and resides in Pacific Beach.
After taking some time off from competitive swimming, Korth ultimately returned to the pool and earned qualifiers in each of his events for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials. At his second Trials in Omaha, Neb., after his 2012 debut, he placed 93rd (1:03.92) in the 100-meter breast on June 26, up from his seed of 104, and 79th (2:20.67) in the 200 on June 29.
