Abigail Smith joined the UC San Diego Athletics Department as the head diving coach in September 2021.
Prior to her time with the Tritons, Smith was a swim instructor and on-deck supervisor at Noonan Family Swim School in Carlsbad, Calif. She has also worked as a coach and co-director of all programs at Dive San Diego in Oceanside, Calif.
For two years (2019-21), Smith was the aquatic manager and dive lesson instructor at Fruita Community Center in Colorado.
Smith is a graduate of Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colo., obtaining her bachelor’s in sports management. As a student-athlete, Smith was a two-time All-American honorable mention, a four-time NCAA national qualifier, a four-time all-conference selection and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Diver of the Year in 2019.
Smith also served as graduate assistant dive and strength coach for one season at Colorado Mesa.
