Angelo Villano

Angelo Villano joined the UC San Diego Athletics Department in July 2022.

Villano earned his bachelor’s degree from California State University, Monterey Bay in 2018, where he was a member of the men’s rugby team and one of a select group of students to serve as a strength and conditioning intern. Following his undergraduate studies, he gained further collegiate experience in strength and conditioning at Yale University in 2019 before returning to the West Coast.

Villano went on to earn his master’s degree in kinesiology with a concentration in sports performance from Point Loma Nazarene University in 2022. While completing his graduate studies, he served as a human performance lab supervisor and instructor, as well as a sports science graduate assistant, and also expanded his experience in high-level sport working with USA Rugby. These experiences provided opportunities to work with individuals across a variety of settings and reinforced the importance of understanding the human in human performance.

A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), Villano has experience working across collegiate, private-sector, and national-level performance settings. For Villano, the greatest reward of coaching is working with individuals to help them become better athletes and teammates, with the ultimate goal of building championship people.
