Denzel Brito joined the UC San Diego coaching staff in June 2025 after spending last season as a graduate assistant at George Washington. Brito came to GW from Tabor Academy in Massachusetts, where he served as an assistant and player development coach. Â
The Onset, Mass., native was recruited as a two-sport athlete at Lawrence Academy where he was a part of the most wins in school history with 102 and is the third all-time leading scorer. Brito also held numerous Power 5 football offers. Brito signed to play at Loyola University Chicago before transferring to Loyola University Maryland where he led the team in assists and steals for three seasons while graduating with a degree in Communications.
Brito played professionally overseas for eight years in Germany, Spain, Ireland, Portugal and Australia. Brito also was selected to compete for the Cape Verde National Team in FIBA Africa.
