Now in his second season as an assistant coach, Christian Bayne ’19 was elevated to assistant coach for the UC San Diego men’s basketball program in September of 2021 after serving as Director of Operations for two seasons with the Tritons.
Prior to joining the staff in 2019-20, Bayne was no stranger to RIMAC Arena. In two years playing for the Tritons Bayne was twice named All-CCAA First Team, and he was the CCAA Tournament Most Valuable Player after leading UC San Diego to a conference title in 2018-19. He scored 989 career points for UC San Diego, averaging more than 15 points per game for the Tritons. Prior to his time on the hardwood in La Jolla, Bayne played 54 games over two seasons for Stanislaus State.
The Bakersfield native led Stockdale HS to a league title and was named Southwest Yosemite League MVP as a senior in 2014.
