FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — UC San Diego battled Northern Arizona to a 0-0 draw Sunday afternoon at Lumberjack Stadium, moving to 2-1-1 on the season. The match was delayed by weather just over 16 minutes into play, but despite the interruption, the Tritons and Lumberjacks battled to a scoreless draw. HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tritons came out attacking early, with
Chloe Yates recording UC San Diego's first shot in the fifth minute. Just over 16 minutes into the match, play was halted due to weather, creating an early interruption for both teams.
Following the weather delay, the Tritons continued to generate offensive opportunities, with
Jenna Grider and
Ava Tibor also recording attempts. Northern Arizona's goalkeeper turned aside several Triton chances to keep the match scoreless.
Wilfert kept the Lumberjacks off the scoreboard as well, making key saves to preserve the clean sheet. UC San Diego continued to apply pressure with several corner-kick opportunities, but neither team was able to break through before halftime.
The Tritons maintained their defensive stability coming out of the break, with Wilfert making several crucial saves as Northern Arizona looked to create opportunities.
UC San Diego created another offensive push following a corner kick, as
Alexis Nguyen recorded two shots, but both were turned away by the Lumberjacks' defense.
Wilfert continued to anchor the Triton defense, making another save as UC San Diego held Northern Arizona scoreless. Despite continued pressure and multiple corner-kick opportunities, neither team found the back of the net as the match ended in a 0-0 draw.

I'm really proud of the girls for staying locked in and having a pretty good performance. The second game of a weekend is always tough physically, but they made no excuses.
