Tritons Place Fifth at CAA Championship

PENNSAUKEN, N.J.UC San Diego finished fifth overall at the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Women's Rowing Championship Saturday on the Cooper River in New Jersey.

The Tritons fielded four boats - Varsity 8, Varsity 4, Second Varsity 8, and Third Varsity 8.

UC San Diego's V8 placed sixth. The 2V8 and 3V8 were fifth and the V4 came in fourth.

A pair of Tritons earned All-CAA First Team recognition - seniors Ciara Auran and Kiera Cooper.

Northeastern won its 12th-consecutive CAA title. The victory gave the Huskies an automatic berth in the upcoming NCAA Rowing Championship.

FROM HEAD COACH COLIN TRUEX
"We raced hard today and I am proud of what the team was able to achieve. The championship race is the culmination and celebration of a season of incredibly hard work and I think the team competed admirably and gave the seniors a wonderful final experience. I am so excited for Kiera 'Coop' Cooper and Ciara 'CC' Auran to be recognized as First-Team CAA. They have been the spirit and power of this team for four years, through highs and lows, and they are the greatest of friends and teammates. I am happy to have been a part of their experience and they fully deserve this honor. Overall this team has shown time and time again that it can be challenged with adversity and persevere. When they look back, I hope that they feel that they did the best they could and that the journey was worth the grind."
