Colin Truex Steps Down as Head Women's Rowing Coach

LA JOLLA, Calif. — UC San Diego women's rowing head coach Colin Truex announced he was stepping down from the position Thursday after leading the Tritons for the past 14 seasons.

"After careful thought and consideration and consultations with loved ones, I've decided to step down as head coach of the UC San Diego women's rowing program, said Truex. "It has been a great pleasure and honor to serve in the role for over a decade, but it is time for me to move on to the next chapter of my life, whatever that may be. I've absolutely loved working with this team and we had many great years together.

Truex took over the reins of the program for the 2012-13 season.

"I look forward to cheering them on as a fan from the shoreline as they strive to reach a whole next level of speed, said Truex.  "I want to thank everyone that I've had the privilege of working with over the years from the scholar-athletes, other coaches, and the support staff and administrators. UC San Diego Athletics is a special place and is destined for great things because of you all. I wish the Tritons all the best of luck!"

Triton associate head coach Kim Dale will serve as interim head coach.

UC San Diego has launched a national search for the head coach position.
