LA JOLLA, Calif. – UC San Diego freshman infielder
Tori Hinostro has been named The Big West Softball Freshman of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Monday. She is the fourth different Triton to capture a Big West weekly honor to date in 2026.
Hinostro had a breakout week for the Tritons in their series win at UC Riverside. The freshman started the final two games of the series – both Triton wins – at third base. She ripped four hits in six at-bats, scoring twice and driving in a pair of runs. For the weekend, she slashed .667/.667/.571. Hinostro delivered a pinch-hit single in the first game of the series and was 2-for-2 when leading off an inning over the weekend.
The Tritons took two games at UC Riverside to earn their first road series win of the season. Next up, UC San Diego is back home for a three-game Big West series vs. Cal Poly on April 11 and 12, playing a doubleheader on Saturday at 4 p.m. with a single game Sunday at Noon. All three games can be seen on ESPN+ and heard on KSDT radio, with live stats available on UCSDTritons.com.
