Three Tritons Earn Big West Recognition

LAS VEGAS – Three UC San Diego scholar-athletes were recognized as Honorable Mention All-Big West as the conference announced its postseason awards on Tuesday. The awards were voted on by the conference's 11 head coaches ahead of its championship, which begins Wednesday. Juniors Leo Beath and Bol Dengdit, and freshman Hudson Mayes were all named Honorable Mention.
 
Leo Beath led the Tritons in scoring overall (12.4 points per game) and he averaged 5.5 rebounds per game during conference play. Bol Dengdit was the Tritons' top scorer against conference foes (12.4 ppg), while pulling down 5.4 rebounds per game. The Australia native was fifth in conference action, shooting 51.1%. Hudson Mayes led UC San Diego on the glass in Big West action (6.6 per game), averaged 11.8 points, and was third in conference, hitting 88.9% of his free throw tries. He shot 50% from the field against Big West foes.

At 22-10, UC San Diego posted its third straight 20-win season. The Tritons were second in The Big West, allowing just 69.9 points per game. UC San Diego opens play at the Credit Union 1 Big West Championship Wednesday evening. Playing as the No. 5 seed, the Tritons will take on No. 8 Cal Poly in the opening round at 6 p.m. on ESPN+ and 97.3 The Fan.
