Impressive Showing for Tritons in 6-1 Road Victory

CLAREMONT, Calif. – UC San Diego began a brief weekend road trip with an impressive 6-2 victory over host Pomona-Pitzer Friday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex. The Tritons took the first two doubles courts and the first five singles courts to clinch their third win away from home already this spring.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UC San Diego came out strong and captured the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. Grad student Hana Gamracy and junior Kamya Nair were 6-2 winners at No. 3 and freshman Olivia Allegre and junior Julia Visaya won by the same score at No. 1. The Triton tandem of freshman Alisa Lansky and sophomore Allison Lian were up 4-3 on court two when play was abandoned.
 
In singles play, Lansky gave UC San Diego a 2-0 lead in the match with her blanking of her foe in straight sets at second singles. Lian was the next to get into the win column with her 6-4, 6-0 victory at No. 4. It was Gamracy who sealed the win with her 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 3. Other Triton winners Friday were Allegre (court one) and Visaya on five.
 
TRITON TIDBITS
  • The Tritons have won the doubles point in five of seven matches this spring.
  • Playing at No. 1, freshman Olivia Allegre won her first singles match as a Triton.
  • Allison Lian has won four consecutive singles matches.
