UC San Diego Falls to Idaho in Close Competition

MOSCOW, Idaho – UC San Diego dropped a 5-2 road match to Idaho on Saturday morning inside the P1FCU Kibbie Dome. The Tritons earned two singles victories to close the match but were edged out in doubles after competitive battles at the top courts.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
In doubles, UC San Diego pushed Idaho early but ultimately fell in tight matches. At No. 1 doubles, Trevor Nguyen and Abhinav Chunduru were topped 7-5. On court two, Oliver Worth and Andrew Becerio came up short in a 6-4 decision. The No. 3 match featuring Trey Fourticq and Prathinav Chunduru was left unfinished at 6-6.
 
Idaho carried the momentum into singles, taking the first three completed courts. At No. 1, Worth fell 6-3, 6-2. On court three, Abhinav Chunduru was defeated 6-0, 6-1, and at No. 2 singles, Prathinav Chunduru dropped a pair of 6-4 sets.
 
UC San Diego picked up its first point at No. 6 singles, where Nguyen delivered a strong 6-4, 6-1 win. The Tritons added another point at No. 5, with Yaron Guberman earning a 7-6, 6-2 victory. At No. 4 singles, David Adamson battled but ultimately fell 6-4, 6-4 to close out the match.

The Tritons will wrap their weekend road trip tomorrow, Monday, Feb. 16 where they are to face Montana at 8:30 a.m. PST.
