Tritons Clinch Doubles Early but Not Enough Against LMU

LA JOLLA, Calif. — UC San Diego dropped a home match to LMU 4-2 on Thursday, Feb. 12 at the Northview Tennis Courts. UC San Diego secured the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 courts but finished with just one singles win at the No. 3 spot.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
To start the match, UC San Diego secured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and 2 doubles. Alisa Lansky and Allison Lian triumphed 6-2 over their opponents at No. 2, followed by Olivia Allegre and Julia Visaya's 6-3 win at No. 1. LMU captured the No. 3 doubles match, Hana Gamracy and Kamya Nair were defeated 3-6 before the doubles point was clinched.
 
In singles, LMU came back strongly, starting with a 6-2, 6-1 win against Nair at No. 6. The lead was extended with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Visaya at No. 5 singles. Gamracy kept the Tritons in contention by taking No. 3 singles with a 6-3, 6-3 win over her opponent.
 
LMU earned their next point at No. 4 singles, where Lian was topped 6-3, 6-2. The match at No. 1 saw a tiebreaker before the match was clinched for LMU, 7-6(7), 6-1. Lansky at No. 2 singles was left unfinished, tied at 3-3 in the third set.

  • With her unfinished match, Lansky remains undefeated at No. 2 singles.
 
UP NEXT
The Tritons stay at home for a Saturday morning conference match, facing their first Big West foe of Hawai'i at 11 a.m. at Northview Tennis Courts. Admission to Northview Tennis Courts is free but note parking permits are required on campus at all times.
