LA JOLLA, Calif. — UC San Diego women's soccer goalkeeper Charlotte Wilfert has been named Big West Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, the conference announced Monday, Nov. 2. The honor follows another strong week in goal as Wilfert helped the Tritons secure the No. 2 seed in the Big West Championship.
Wilfert played all 180 minutes across UC San Diego's two matches, recording three saves while helping the Tritons earn a pair of Big West victories. She helped anchor the defensive effort in a 3-1 road win over CSU Bakersfield before backstopping a 2-0 shutout victory over UC Irvine on Senior Day.
The shutout against UC Irvine marked Wilfert's eighth of the season, further contributing to the Tritons' defensive success as they closed out the regular season with a second-place finish in the Big West standings.
The recognition marks Wilfert's second Big West Defensive Player of the Week honor of the 2026 season. She previously earned the distinction on Sept. 28, following her performances in the Tritons' opening conference matches.
