HEAD COACH MARKO DJORDJEVIC
Marko Djordjevic was named the head coach of UC San Diego men's and women's swimming programs on July 10, 2019. The 2026-27 season is his eighth season as head coach.
After undergoing the transition from NCAA Division II to Division I, Djordjevic made history as he was the first coach to send a scholar-athlete to an NCAA DI Championship in a non-open division sport. At the 2025 Big West Swim and Dive Championships,Â
Chloe Braun set the UC San Diego program record and Big West meet record in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 59.14 which earned her a spot at the NCAA Championships.
Â
Djordjevic sent another three scholar-athletes to the 2026 NCAA DI Championships, Braun,
Asia Kozan, and
Eva Boehlke. Braun again made history as the first DI point-scorer in UC San Diego history, placing 16th in the 100 breaststroke.
Â
During the four-year transition period, Djordjevic made history when the women's team won the university's first DI conference championship in 2022 at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation swimming and diving championships. Disrupting the Hawaii dynasty, the Triton women won the championships by 12.5 points, taking home gold in seven events. After an outstanding season and championship win, Djordjevic was named MPSF Swim Coach of the Year.
Â
NOTABLE
In their last year of competition in the Big West, the Triton women won ten championship titles and made it to the podium 16 times to take fourth place overall. Finishing third overall, the Triton men made it to the podium eight times during the conference championships, claiming two titles.
Landon Egeland claimed the Big West Freshman of the Year honor after he dominated in distance events, setting a meet and program record with his victory in the 500 freestyle. Â
Eva Boehlke was a standout at the conference championships, earning three individual titles, punching her ticket to the NCAAs, and earning the Big West Swimmer of the Year accolade. Boehlke set three meet records and two program records during her four days of competition.
Â
MPSF CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS
This year's conference championship will take place for the women from Wednesday, Feb. 17- Saturday, Feb. 20 in St. George, Utah. The men's championship will also be held in St. George, following the women from Monday, Feb. 22- Thursday, Feb. 25.

WHY THE TRITONS?
The Triton is described as the offspring of Poseidon and Amphitrite, a demigod of the sea with a lower part of the body like that of a fish. It is known as a mighty and fierce sea warrior. Given UC San Diego's close proximity to the Pacific Ocean and its connections with the world-famous Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the Triton became our mascot in 1964.
