LA JOLLA, Calif. — UC San Diego women's soccer has earned its third Big West weekly award of the 2026 season, with Olivia Shih named Rookie of the Week by the conference today. Shih helped the Tritons earn four points in two Big West matches last week, scoring the game-winning goal in a 3-0 victory over Sacramento State before recording an assist in a 1-1 draw at UC Santa Barbara.
Shih played 58 minutes against Sacramento State on Oct. 14, scoring once and finishing with four shots, two of which were on target. Her goal helped the Tritons secure their third conference victory of the season and continue the best start in program history during the NCAA Division I era.
The redshirt freshman midfielder followed up her performance with an assist against UC Santa Barbara on Oct. 17. Shih played 65 minutes and recorded three shots, including two on target, as UC San Diego earned a point on the road.
Shih's selection marks the second Big West Rookie of the Week honor of her career. She previously earned the recognition on Sept. 21, becoming the first Triton to receive a Big West weekly award during the 2026 season.
UC San Diego enters the week in a three-way tie for third place in the Big West standings. With six teams qualifying for the Big West Championship, the Tritons continue their push toward postseason play with conference action remaining.
