LA JOLLA, Calif. — UC San Diego defeated Sacramento State, 3-0, Wednesday at Triton Soccer Stadium, improving to 7-3-4 overall and 3-1-2 in Big West play. The Tritons continued the best start in program history during the NCAA Division I era, finishing with a season-high 19 shots on goal and a 32-7 advantage in total shots.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UC San Diego applied early pressure, with Shih recording a shot and the Tritons earning a corner kick in the opening minutes. After Wilfert and the Triton defense kept Sacramento State off the scoreboard, UC San Diego broke through in the 15th minute when Shih scored off Lin's assist to give the home side a 1-0 lead.

The Tritons continued to attack, with Natalie Oca recording four shots between the 16th and 25th minutes. Leilah Raad added a shot on goal in the 36th minute before UC San Diego doubled its advantage late in the half. In the 43rd minute, Tibor found the back of the net off assists from Blom and Kiki Vostermans, giving the Tritons a 2-0 lead at halftime. The assist marked Vostermans' first as a Triton.

UC San Diego maintained its offensive pressure after the break, generating 10 shots and three corner kicks during an early second-half stretch. Jenna Grider, Chloe Yates, Shih and Oca each recorded shots on goal as the Tritons looked to extend their lead.

Sacramento State attempted to respond, but Wilfert made a save in the 67th minute. Three minutes later, Tibor scored her second goal of the match in the 71st minute, finishing off Blom's assist to make it 3-0.

The Tritons continued to generate chances in the closing minutes, recording nine additional shots and another corner kick between the 75th and 85th minutes. Wilfert added a late save on Sadie Stoll in the 88th minute to preserve the shutout and secure the 3-0 victory.
