RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Triton cross country's split weekend ended on Saturday at the UC Riverside Invitational, with the women's team taking fourth and the men's team taking ninth.

Jenna Satovsky was the Triton's top finisher in the women's 5k, running 18:17.3 to finish 15th.
Oliver Clippinger-Zimmermann ran 25:31.6 to place 21st and lead the Tritons in the men's 8k.

HOW IT HAPPENED – WOMEN'S RACE
Satovsky set the pace for the Tritons, who had their five point scorers all finish in the top 50.
Annie Burton and
Michelle Huerta finished within a second of each other in 33th and 36th place.
Meilani Castillo and
Roxanne Ehrig were 15 seconds behind in 48th and 49th.

Also racing for the Tritons was
Kimberly Willard and
Kaitlyn Carmichael. The Triton women held their spots well throughout the race, never dipping out of the top four at any of the splits.

HOW IT HAPPENED – MEN'S RACE
Five of the six Tritons running in the race were freshman, with
Thomas Fry the lone exception. Clippinger-Zimmermann was joined in the top 30 by
Bradford Stegge, who was 28th.
Navin Kadel was next for the Tritons in 45th.

Ian Hansen and Fry rounded out the Tritons' point scorers. Also running for the Tritons was
Evan Gardner.

TRITON TIDBITS
- The Tritons' other event of the weekend was Oklahoma State's Cowboy Jamboree on Friday. The Triton women were seventh and the men were 11th.
- Evan Gardner and Ian Hansen made their collegiate debuts at the meet.
- Thomas Fry raced in a meet for the first time this season.Â

"Both groups had strong efforts today," head coach
Nate Garcia '00 said. "I saw some individuals make big steps forward and contribute well to a good team result. Oliver managed the main pack well and fought for every spot. Jenna ran a very even, controlled race and kicked hard to finish in the top 15. I am proud of how both teams raced."

The final regular season meet of the season will see the Tritons return to UC Riverside. The Highlander Invitational will be on Saturday, Oct. 18.
