IRVINE, Calif. – Continuing a bold scheduling strategy into the 2025-26 season, The Big West will open its 11-week true round robin basketball slate with Bold Week, taking place Dec. 4-6, 2025.

Both men's and women's basketball will tip-off conference action the first week of December, providing access to games before the holiday season to improve both the fan and student-athlete experience while adding early season intrigue and ensuring conference weeks feature a consistent Thursday/Saturday schedule format. UC San Diego will have a bye on the conference season-opening date of Dec. 4. The Tritons will begin Big West action on Dec. 6 against Long Beach State, with the women's game taking place at LionTree Arena while the men's game will be held in Long Beach.

"The start of Big West basketball deserves a spotlight, and Bold Week delivers," said Big West Commissioner Dan Butterly. "By tipping off our conference season in early December, we're not just making a scheduling decision — we're creating momentum. Bold Week gives fans an early taste of the rivalries and intensity that define Big West hoops, while helping our student-athletes thrive in a balanced, high-quality schedule. With every game counting in our 20-game round-robin, there's no better way to set the tone for the season than with this bold beginning." 

In last season's inaugural Bold Week, two men's basketball games that opened the schedule were also season-capping matchups in the 2025 Big West Basketball Championships, presented by Credit Union 1. The first-round matchup of UC Davis and Cal Poly and the semifinal tussle between eventual champion UC San Diego at UC Santa Barbara were both three-game season series' that tipped off during Bold Week.

The 2026 Big West Basketball Championships, presented by Credit Union 1, will tip-off on Wednesday, March 11 through Saturday, March 14 at Lee's Family Forum in Henderson, Nevada.
