SAN DIEGO – Triton redshirt freshman goalkeeper
Charlotte Wilfert made five key saves as UC San Diego battled San Diego State to a scoreless draw Saturday night in front of 2,593 at Snapdragon Stadium. Unbeaten in its last three matches, UC San Diego is now 1-1-2. The Aztecs are 1-2-1 following Saturday's draw.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Aztecs outshot the Tritons, 7-1, in the first half. Perhaps their best scoring chances came early. In the seventh minute, Victoria Miller ripped a shot low, but Triton goalkeeper
Charlotte Wilfert lunged to her left and made the save. In the 13th minute, SDSU's Mia Lane fired a shot and Triton newcomer
Chloe Yates stepped in and saved a potential goal.
On the other end of the pitch, UC San Diego's only shot on frame in the first period came in the 17th minute. Triton junior
Alexis Nguyen had a look, but SDSU keeper Kailey Carlen made the stop.
Both teams stepped up their pressure in the second half, though neither ultimately scored. In the 83rd minute, Wilfert came up with a clutch kick save to keep the Aztecs off the board. Less than a minute later, she stepped out to challenge and made another enormous stop.
UC San Diego only had four shots Saturday, though three were on frame.

QUOTABLE
"We had to really grind this one out to get the tie tonight – and we were pretty fortunate to do that," said UC San Diego head coach
Kristin Jones '04. "We need to develop some consistency from game to game, and that part is a work in progress. We put ourselves in some challenging positions at times tonight and we can't continue to do so."
