LA JOLLA, Calif. – UC San Diego men's basketball head coach
Clint Allard '08 was formally introduced Wednesday afternoon to a packed Triton Conference Room crowd of friends and supporters in LionTree Arena. Named to the role on March 30, Allard is the 13th head coach in program history.
"Thank you for being here today," Allard told the crowd. "Being head coach of UC San Diego has been a dream of mine. I am so excited that dream has come true; I'm incredibly fortunate. I get to coach at – and recruit to – one of the world's great universities with a national and global reach."
When I think about Clint, what stands out most is his commitment to the scholar-athletes and the people UC San Diego," said UC San Diego Director of Athletics
Earl W. Edwards. "He's more than just a coach. He's a true relationship-builder, a teacher who cares deeply about the holistic development of his players. Clint understands what it means to be elite – both on and off the court. He is driven to continue building this program into one that produces champions in the classroom, in competition and in life."
"It's clear I'm not alone in my Triton pride," Allard said. "I've seen it build in the students, I've seen it build in the fans and community, I've seen it build in the alumni, I've seen it build across the nation. UC San Diego's brand is getting the recognition it deserves. I'm excited to build on the momentum, and I know I'm not alone."
