Haynes Wins Again but Tritons Fall to No. 26 Pepperdine

LA JOLLA, Calif. – UC San Diego played its first home night match in at least a decade, with the Tritons falling to 26th-ranked Pepperdine 4-1 Saturday night at Northview Tennis Courts. Triton graduate student Julia Haynes was a convincing 6-0, 6-0 winner at top singles, but the Waves earned the doubles point and captured three singles courts to clinch the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Waves were 6-1 winners at No. 3 doubles and 6-4 winners at No. 1 to clinch the doubles point. Pepperdine continued its momentum with a 6-1, 6-0 singles win on court two, giving the Waves a 2-0 lead in the match.
 
Haynes had an impressive singles win at the top spot, posting a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of Vivian Yang. Haynes' triumph made the match score 2-1. Pepperdine went up 3-1 with a win on court three, and clinched the road victory with a win on four.
