COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Both the men's and women's fencing teams won the first MPSF Conference Championships in UC San Diego history on Sunday with wins over Air Force. The Tritons also had the most individual titles in both the West Regional and MPSF Championships.

Sunny Sharma (men's epee) won regional titles on Saturday.
Zehra Anbarlilar (women's foil),
Zara Fearns (women's saber) and
Jacob Levy (men's foil) won MPSF titles on Sunday. Fearns became a repeat winner after taking home the same title in 2024.
NCAA WEST REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Regionals are contested with pool play, giving every fencer the opportunity to face each other once. The individual with the best overall record is named the champion for that weapon. No team title is awarded in the competition.
Cody faced a daunting 14-fencer pool in women's saber, emerging victorious with a 10-3 record. Kim went a perfect 9-0 in the women's foil event as a freshman to claim the first postseason title of her career. Sharma won men's epee with a 9-1 record, finishing two wins clear of the next-closest competitor.

MPSF CHAMPIONSHIP
The top four fencers in each weapon, based on the regional results, qualified for the MPSF individual events. A head-to-head format featuring a semifinal and final round was used to crown the six individual champions.
The team event also uses a head-to-head format. Each match-up was a 30-touch relay. As the best performing team during regionals, UC San Diego earned a bye to the final match on both the men's and women's side.
The two other fencing teams in the MPSF with UC San Diego are Air Force (USAF) and Incarnate Word (UIW).
