LA JOLLA, Calif. — Visiting No. 23 Cincinnati took game two of a four-game series on Friday night with a 5-2 victory over UC San Diego. The series is now tied 1-1 and both teams moved to 5-4 on the year.
Emiliano Gonzalez led the Tritons with three hits, including a home run, in his four at-bats.
Noah Lazuka added two hits and one RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Cincinnati took an early lead in the second with two unearned runs. Gonzalez responded in the bottom of the inning with a home run to center field, putting the Tritons on the board and closing the gap to 2-1.
During the third inning, the Bearcats extended their lead with another run. The Tritons managed to get a single from
Trevian Martinez, but the inning concluded without additional scoring, leaving the score at 3-1 in favor of the visitors.
In the sixth inning, the Tritons capitalized on a walk when Lazuka doubled to center field, bringing home
Alex Leopard and narrowing the score to 4-2.
Despite a strong effort in the latter innings, including a double by Martinez in the seventh, the Tritons could not reduce the deficit further, concluding the game with a 5-2 scoreline.
