Seid Dominant in Win Over No. 23 Cincinnati

LA JOLLA, Calif. – UC San Diego used. Dominant pitching performance from Spencer Seid in defeating No. 23 Cincinnati, 8-2, on Saturday at Triton Ballpark. Seid pitched seven innings with 13 strikeouts, allowing only one earned run on six hits on the mound for the Tritons (6-4). In doing so, Seid set a new UC San Diego Division I single game record with his 13-strikeout performance.
 
Noah Lazuka also contributed at the plate with two runs, two hits – including a double – and an RBI, while providing solid defense with three assists. J.C. Allen ripped three hits, including a home run and a double, while driving in two runs. Michael Crossland homered twice in the win.
 
UC San Diego now leads the four-game series, two games to one. The Bearcats fell to 5-5 with the loss.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the second inning, the Tritons took a 2-0 lead over the Bearcats. Gabriel Camacho started the momentum with a single, followed by a single from Tony Martinez. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch, setting the stage for Daniel Lanier's two-RBI single that brought both Camacho and Martinez home.
 
The Tritons extended their lead in the fourth inning. Crossland hit a solo home run to left field, increasing the score to 3-1.
 
In the fifth inning, the Tritons added another run to make it 4-1. Lazuka and Allen each singled, with Lazuka advancing to third on a wild pitch. Eddie Gonzalez then hit a sacrifice fly, allowing Lazuka to score.
 
The eighth inning saw the Tritons' most significant offensive output, securing their victory with a 4-run performance. Crossland hit his second home run of the game, followed by a two-run homer from Allen. Lazuka also contributed with an RBI double, leading the Tritons to an 8-2 win over the Bearcats.
