ST. GEORGE, UTAH -Â Wrapping the Lyman Classic in St. George, UC San Diego (2-12) fell to Idaho State (9-3) by a score of 13-5 on Sunday, Feb. 23.
The Tritons hold an overall record of 2-12. Idaho State has an overall record of 9-3.
Alexis Jimenez led the Tritons with a strong performance, hitting .1000 across three at-bats, scoring two runs and hitting two doubles.
Haley Garcia contributed significantly with three hits and two RBIÂ in three at-bats, maintaining a perfect batting average.
Elise Nishimura also demonstrated solid performance, recording one hit, one walk, and scoring once in her two at-bats.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
Idaho State struck first with two runs in the first inning and proceeded to score through the second, third, and fourth inning. The Tritons scored in three innings with their first runs coming in the bottom of the second.Â
UC San Diego scored their first run after
Chloe Lesko won the walk through a six-pitch at-bat and pushed
Alexis Jimenez in. On the following at-bat,
Elise Nishimura capitalized on a wild pitch to score. The Tritons pushed another run across in the next inning when
Haley Garcia laced a single out to left field to score
Jaden Hill.Â
The Tritons wouldn't score again until the fifth inning. Garcia tallied another RBI with a single through the right side to score Jimenez. On a full count,
Morgan Eng reached on an error after a six-pitch at-bat. On the error,
Reilly Erickson was able to come in and score. UC San Diego was unable to overcome the 13 run deficit and fell in five innings.
