Beath Scores 21, Prospere Adds 20 as Tritons Run Past Tulane

UC San Diego earns its sixth win away from home this season

HENDERSON, Nev. – UC San Diego junior Leo Beath scored 21 points and grad student Emanuel Prospere II added a season high 20 as the Tritons rolled to a 93-67 win over Tulane in the Jack Jones Classic Saturday night inside Lee's Family Forum. Off to its best-ever Division I start at 9-1, UC San Diego has now won six games away from home this season.
 
Beath added eight rebounds and six assists in the win, with Prospere chipping in eight boards as well. Aidan Burke scored nine with a personal best 10 rebounds in the win, and Tom Beattie scored 12 and added six rebounds.
 
The Tritons pulled down a season best 50 rebounds as they improved to 3-0 all time at Lee's Family Forum, home of The Big West Championship. Tulane dropped to 7-4 with the loss.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Prospere scored 12 of the Tritons' first 20 points – sinking five of his first seven field goal tries as UC San Diego was up 20-16 eight minutes into the contest. Out of the gate, the Tritons outrebounded the Green Wave, 14-6, and scored 10 of their first 20 points in the paint.
 
UC San Diego continued to light it up from deep, knocking down eight first half three pointers. A floating three-ball from Beath at the buzzer gave the Tritons a 53-31 lead at halftime.
Prospere led all scorers with 16, with Beath adding 11. Prospere added three first half assists and three steals. UC San Diego forced 10 Green Wave turnovers, leading to 15 Triton points on the other end.
 
UC San Diego scored the first five points of the second half to take its largest lead of the night to that point, 58-31, with still 19:03 to play – an advantage it would surpass when the Tritons went up 79-50 with 7:42 remaining.
 
After Tulane went in front, 7-5, the Tritons never trailed.
